Can these be used as separate routers or just as nodes in a house. Like do each one have the ability to acc as a router. I have this set currently and need an extra node for my basement but would like
To use one of the nodes as a router at a different location and wasnt sure if possible.

Don't quote me, but I'm fairly certain that one is a router and the other two are just APs.
i have orbi. It sucks. I have a nighthawk stand alone in a different property and it rules. Anybody know if this would be an upgrade from 3 piece Orbi mesh? 2500 sq ft brick 2 story home.
It's nice to see WiFi 6 solutions coming down in price, but as an existing Orbi user (RBK50) this is a downgrade in a few key areas for me:
Lack of dedicated wireless backhaul.
Lack of wired backhaul capability (supposed to be added via firmware down the road).
Lack of ethernet ports on router (only one, vs. 4 on my Orbi) means even if they allow wired backhaul in the future, you can only use for 1 satellite.
WiFi 6 would be nice, but my Orbi has been rock solid for the last few years I have owned it and covers my entire property with only one router and satellite so I'm happy until a cost effective solution comes along that is better in every way.
Got it thx. Wonder if i can use one
Of the access pts as an extra node for the house and use the router separately?
I think you have to have the main router in order to use these nodes. That's normally how it works. If you need something like this look at getting just an access point such as Ubiquiti Lite or a TP Link AP.

I have had 2 Orbi RBKs fail on me in 9 months. I'm done with Orbi personally. The latest failure was two nights ago in the middle of the night.

What is a dedicated wireless backhaul? And what are the benefits to it?

2 band vs 3 band, so basically 3rd band is used to communicate between nodes, improving performance of devices connected to nodes and allowiy to use 2 other bands without more congestion.
As far as wired back haul option, you can always use a switch to connect nodes together, in witch case 1 port isn't really a big deal.
I grabbed one of these when they went on sale. Returned it the next day. Wifi would drop, couldnt keep a stable connection unless I only used the main unit without the aps... Maybe I was doing something wrong? Had my modem/router bridged into the mesh and let the mesh handle all routing.

I bought it last time it was on sale on costco for 199. A few things.
1. It supports wired backhaul. Router and two mesh points only have one LAN port so you'd need a switch.
2. My Tivo Roamio OTA does not connect to the WiFi from this router. I have no idea why it is not connecting when rest of the devices are connecting fine. I connected TiVo via LAN for the time being.
3. So far I haven't seen WiFi connection issues.
4. Android app is quite buggy. It won't show network map properly, won't show which devices connected to which satellite, is slow.
5. Roaming sometimes is not seamless like you'd notice in phone call (if going over wifi), audio in online meetings.
6. You can't setup separate wifi for 5g and 2.4g. It's just one wifi name for both.
7. Don't enable that netgear armor crap.
8. You have no support from netgear after 3 months, unless you pay for it or your hardware breaks down.
9. You can always return it to costco for any reason.

This has ethernet ports, not sure why previous poster said no ethernet port. Or did I misunderstand?
Also this thing has extremely limited control panel/options. It also broadcasts 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz at same SSID, unlike earlier models you cannot set them different SSID. My camera in my garage gets confused which one to connect because one has good signal, other has bad signal and with same SSID, and what's worse it also picks up the SSID from Satellite unit AND main unit, that makes matters even worse. They should just stop making these "same" SSID hoping that devices hop from one to other, because it doesn't.
I mean for $200, I got 3 "access points" it's OK, but this thing as a router functionality is very limited. Did I mention I hate the control panel?
Range is so so.. Which is why it comes with 3, but only if you are lucky to connect to the "right" one.. Seriously why can't we have option to name them differently?
Also forget about guest network options like limiting the speed, or access control, other stuff... $200 router can't set limits.. OK.

Wifi doesn't do well with bricks. Also saying orbi sucks without saying which one you have is silly. If you have the 3 pack minis that look like this in white then yeah they probably are awful for your set up.
These wouldn't be a upgrade for you. Yes they are wifi 6 but they come with stripped features like wireless backhaul. I'd consider rbk50s or the wifi 6 ax4200. Which cost alot
I have the T E N D A MW6 and been having issues with connectivity and slow speeds. I just ran a speed test straight from my Netgear CM600 router and have double the speeds and latency has improved dramatically. I wonder if buying this will help any.
