i have wanted it on steam forever, and it's so worth it that i don't give a rats ass that this isn't from steam! this is a totally awesome game and can't wait to play it!

These settings worked for me:
1. Go to Syberia folder
2. Right-click " Game.exe " and select " Properties "
3. Go to the " Compatibility tab "
4. Select " Run this program in compatibility mode for: "
- select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows 95/ Windows ME
5. Select " Reduced color mode " : 8-bit (256) color
6. Select " Run this program as an administrator "

I used Windows 95/ME option.

This game is very charming. I remember coming to this from The Longest Journey and was stunned by the quality of animation. Interesting stories and locations, with the puzzles not too crazy. The second game is great too.

I can't get it to play. Anyone have suggestions?
I am on Windows 10 and the error message I get is "The 3D rendering engine could not be initialized". I tried windows compatibility troubleshooting (since it is an old game) and it suggested Windows Vista but that gave the same error. Windows XP compatibility did not work either.

Try updating directx, that has fixed issues I've had with older games

On the first attempt, it wanted me to install directplay so I did that. I will check directx.

Is this the same as the original from ~15 yrs ago?
That one was pretty immersive though I got impatient and looked up the answers toward the end lol. Nice visuals & sound too.

Thank you ! It's not my preferred style of game but it's free and it's certainly worth downloading . Yes — like everyone else here I have a backlog of free games most of which I will probably never play in this lifetime — but based on the trailer this one gets moved to the top of the list if I ever get enough time. For indie game makers with a portfolio of games giving away one good one for free is probably a very smart marketing move !

This didn't work for me, and I'm also getting the same error described above. Anyone find a fix?

This is a great game! Worth it!!

Only issue is that Siberia 2 and 3 were TERRIBLE!!! Don't get hopes up if you like this and see the other titles...
