I don't understand the point of this subcompact 1/2. They both have the same torque specs. I have the 3/8 subcompact and the 1/2 full size. If you're doing any serious work on your vehicle that's the combo you want. The subcompact just doesn't have the torque to get some things loose.

Not sure why somebody thumbed you down, this was exactly my thought when I looked at the set... it's odd indeed, kinda makes the 1/2'' useless.

I have Milwaukee, Kobalt, Ryobi, DeWalt, & Rigid. The impact sockets are most common in the 1/2 inch. Having two or more impact wrenches with different size sockets makes the job go a lot quicker.

I have full size 1/2 and sub 1/2... Most of my sockets are 1/2. To me 3/8 is kind of useless

Agree that owning both the 3/8 and 1/2 does not make a lot of sense since the power is the same. I disagree and prefer the 3/8 as most work for me is done with 3/8 sockets. Buy the HF $24 37 piece impact socket set and it includes a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter. This also works great as an impact driver using a 3/8 to hex adapter. Regarding power, use a larger 4ah+ battery and this thing kiks arse, nut busting 450 ft lbs. with 6ah. 11:20 mark

I agree with just using an adapter but some people prefer to have a wrench in each size available without the need for adapters. Had that discussion on previous post. Around Xmas the 3 tool set with batteries and charger (included the 3/8") was $199 at HD. With the LSA that set was slick. I'd wait for that deal to become avail if your in the market for the 3/8".

Already own the 3/8, paid $81. If youre wrenching for a profession or often, two makes sense. Otherwise, lots of possible excuses to own two.

btw- 4 tools $269 - drill, recip saw, impact driver, 3/8 impact wrench, 2ah, 4ah, charger, flood light.

Yep, that was the kit I bought as well. No complaints. Rebuilt a fence section, got the lugs off and on both cars. May not get frozen bolts off the front end of a Rust bucket, but you probably won't be snapping bolt heads off either like with 450lb 1/2 inch drives. Sometimes penetrant, heat and hammer taps are in order not brute strength.

My Rigid impact set arrived today. It came in a brown box, not the usual Rigid packaging box. All you guys with the Home Depot Rigid hack.

This is why i like 18v compact tools over 12v tools. The type of power increase you can get jus from a battery is more significant but can still run the smaller batteries most of the time. Same YouTubeer did this test with compact battery and got 325 i think. With 12v you pretty much wanna use the bigger batteries cuz the compacts arent going to last very long at giving you good power. Dewalt jus announced a nice 12v impact with 400 nut busting torque but i really want them to make it in 20v atomic version. Same tool at 18v will still be more powerful especially with bigger battery. Jus like at an m18 vs m12 stubby test from that YouTubeer
