As a dual max owner that has them on stereo pairing... I think 2 of these nest audios on stereo would sound nearly if not just as good to most people in most situations. I have a 25 ft cathedral ceiling great room that is quite open and large with 2 Max's in it, and unless you consistently play your music at 80% volume you probably won't be able to tell too much of a difference between the max and these (I also have 2 nest audios). The nest audios sound great and should suffice for most people. Wouldn't worry too much about holding out for the max

The single pieces including charcoal are $80 each. So if you really want that color you can have them for just $10 extra.

Google says it has a "75-percent louder and 50 percent stronger bass" than the Google Home.

I wouldn't assume it's anything like the Google home.

I got a pair the other day, and I think they sound good - but I don't have a home or max to compare. I think if you are in the eco system already, they add some depth to your music if just using the nest home mini's now.

I have a two 2nd gen mini mixed with these, and it's fantastic for whole house audio.

Are these controlled in the nest app, or the google home app? Just curious. I'm pretty committed to sonos. But I also have a lot of nest gear, multiple thermostats, cameras, alarm etc. would be interesting if this was all in the nest app. I find google home to be kinda garbage.
