I enjoyed this much more than Need for Speed Remastered especially on the Switch. The open world concept and variety of races was much better than the linear format of Need for Speed. Plus the crashes in Burnout are spectacular.

That was crash mode, which was part of Burnout 2 and Burnout 3. The version in burnout 2 was far and away the best. Crash mode is not a part of this game, unfortunately. For those who don't know, it was essentially a puzzle game in which you saw the scene and had to control the car from the start of the scene until you crashed with the goal of causing the most damage (measured in dollars).

It's the reason I still keep my OG Xbox.

For anyone curious about this game, or anyone who wants a good laugh, go to YouTube and search for Zero Punctuation Burnout Paradise review.

I dont particularly care for driving/racing games(other than this and mario kart), but this one was really fun because you can just drive around an open world really fast and do a bunch of jumps and stuff.

Oh and it has a really good soundtrack that greatly complements the speed happening on screen. I'd say most of my enjoyment from this game comes from mindlessly driving around at high speeds while listening to the soundtrack. It's both relaxing and exciting. The online is great too, you don't have to stop driving to join a match, it's all accessible from the d pad, and it is one of the most seamless ways to get into an online match that I've ever experienced in a game.

It also had a ton of dlc (most of it free, if not free then cheap, obviously this version has all that dlc packaged into it, just highlighting some history for this game), dev support for years, and was just a really fun game.

I would really like to see a sequel for this.

Fun racing game. I feel like anyone interested has played it already. I think it was on ps+ For ps4 at some point in time so if you don't need it on switch check out your purchase history on ps4.

If you haven't played it and like fun fast racers pick this up.

My son and daughter both have switches. Is there a way to purchase without knowing their account and gifting them a license?

Great game on the PC and Xbox.

Sadly, that's probably never going to happen. Criterion Games was purchased by EA. They're still around, but they've been working on StarWars BattleFront II (2017) and Need for Speed games. Which is a shame, because Burnout is way better than NFS.

It was rumored that Nintendo (of Europe) wanted Criterion to make an F-Zero sequel/reboot for its Wii U platform, but Criterion was unable to commit because they were working on cross platform Need For Speed: Most Wanted. Source: wikipedia [wikipedia.org]

Then again, consider how Nintendo acted when Golden Eye (N64) was ported the Xbox 360. Once it was done, Nintendo said, "Nah", because one person at Nintendo wasn't asked. Source: Golden Eye_Verge [theverge.com]

I played what I thought was a Burnout game many years ago. The only thing I remember was you were scored based on the largest crash/pile-up you could create. Is that the same as this?

good price for sure... I almost pulled the trigger. Then I remembered that this game goes down to $5 on other platforms regularly and this IS EA after all. They don't do "the switch tax". I'm going to hold off for the $5 mark, until then, I'll play it on the toaster that they released this for as well.

Isn't that compatible with the new XBOX now also? I believe you can purchase the game still on a SERIES X, etc. That was the BEST part of Burnout, I'm curious how it aged.

I recently looked into it and it seems Burnout 2 is BC up to the 360 but not up the XB1/XBX, unfortunately.
