Won't let me check out for some reason... keeps throwing up a triangle that they are unable to process the request. I somehow got by the ID me thing so maybe that's why. I don't have an ID me account although I am the father of a school aged child and after looking at that site, I don't think I'd qualify.

It's in the high mid range is because their chart includes a lot of old CPUs from like 15 years ago.
This one is really slow and it will be the performance bottleneck of this laptop. Try compare this with AMD Ryzen 5 4600U or Intel Core i5-1135G7.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

The complaints about the CPU are really more a ding on Intel's latest labeling/branding scheme more than anything else. No, this does not perform at the level you might expect given that it is a 10th-generation CPU with 5 cores blessed by Intel with i5-branding. However, what you do get is performance comparable to the 8th-generation, 4 core i3 CPUs (which were themselves very comparable to the prior generation i5 CPUs).

Given the incredibly small power envelope for this passively cooled(!) laptop, that's pretty impressive and more than functional for a number of users. If you have a modern i3- or i5-based laptop this might be anywhere from a side-grade to a downgrade. However, this is still well above the level of earlier Atom and Pentium CPUs.

Good luck!
Jon

Bad. And the storage is eUFS, not NVMe. This is a weak laptop with great design. $450 is decent, not a great deal I would say. But if you like the design, go for it.

Buy this laptop because you want something thin and light at the given price point ($450) which isn't too CPU-compromised. Basic video conferencing could be achieved with plenty of laptops. You could get bulkier, cheaper laptops with much more power for your budget, or much cheaper and even less powerful laptops that would video conference just fine.

This laptop sits in an ecosystem somewhere below something like the Surface Laptop Go (which is around $600 discounted) but above the Surface Go tablet lineup (which is around $400). If your response was "I wasn't shopping any of those" then this isn't the laptop for you.

Good luck!
Jon
