I'm seeing $699, not $649. Typo or dead?

Edit: had to refresh, new price showed up
$649 when originally posted, back to $699 now which is the usual sale price, and still a good price from what I have found.

Nevermind, looks like one of the weird Adorama bugs where the price shows differently depending on where you access from.

Have both and the AirPod Max has better imaging, depth, and immersion. Got a full HiFi setup for the Planars and AirPod Max is underrated and comes out on top.
Nice try at trolling. I won a pair of AirPod Max. Amazing headphones and seamless to use, I love them. They sound good but compared to my modded monoprice M1060, they can't sustain the fight especially for precision. This headphone is in another league that my cheap monoprice so I seriously doubt the AirPod max has a chance. The only way it would win is if you like the AirPod sound signature and overlook pure performance

Are these worth the almost 3x price from something like the Drop HD6XX?

That depends on the person. These do sound better. Dollar for dollar they don't sound 3x better. The higher you go up the food chain of headphones the improvements do not match the price in terms of value, but for some people who are into maximizing sound reproduction it's worth it. I bought these at $649 and am still evaluating them to decide if I want to keep them, and I own the HD650 (same as HD6XXX) . If these were selling at the regular price I can't imagine who would buy them.

If you had the cash would u grab these as an upgrade from a $200 headphone (akg k702) strictly and purely just for competitive gaming ? Hoping the response is No lol. I do have a decent amp

I wouldn't think this would be a good investment for gaming. The reason to buy these would be for listening to music.

Probably a waste of money. Grab an open-box He400i 2020 edition for $139 directly from hifiman and I'm sure you'll be extremely happy with them.

Has anybody run them with emotiva basx a-100 in "direct mode"? I'm so impressed with my DT 880 600ohm, that I now want to try another hard to drive cans with my Emotiva amp.

I have the 6XX also and can't decide to get these.
