Nice try at trolling. I won a pair of AirPod Max. Amazing headphones and seamless to use, I love them. They sound good but compared to my modded monoprice M1060, they can't sustain the fight especially for precision. This headphone is in another league that my cheap monoprice so I seriously doubt the AirPod max has a chance. The only way it would win is if you like the AirPod sound signature and overlook pure performance
this sounds better then Arya without any mods, I've played both side by side, and this have lot more clarity and separation compared to Arya - Arya has soundstage better but thats where things ends with you compare with Arya, this beats Arya hands down, provided you are driving them properly.
Better bass? I love the way Arya's bass is with EQ that is.
Heard some people say that you need something along the lines of a speaker amp to drive these to its maximum potential. That having said, I'm using a Lyr 3 whicn can push 4 watts into 50 ohms. At this price, I'll probably pull the trigger for these instead of the HD 8XX on Drop.

yes doing side by side compare, I'd ADI-2 DAC + Topping A90 combo, playing both Arya amd HE6, and HE6 seems to be more better in ever regards. And I own both headphones, along with LCD-X, Focal Clear and HeddPhone - only other Headphone that is better then HE6 is HeddPhone but rest all are not anywhere close.
Has anybody run them with emotiva basx a-100 in "direct mode"? I'm so impressed with my DT 880 600ohm, that I now want to try another hard to drive cans with my Emotiva amp.
I'd like to answer two questions
Pairing with A-100
Competitive Gaming with H6SE
Pairing with A-100 in Direct Mode is amazing. I bought the PT-100 + A-100 to run the H6SE in direct mode. The sound quality and immersion is great for an audiophile combo that's a little north of $1000. I've the 250ohm 990 PRO and I've stopped using those. They sound terrible after stepping to the H6SE. I really have zero desire for any further upgrades and any future moneys will be spend on sourcing the sound, specifically streaming at hi res.
Competitive Gaming with H6SE is amazing after:
Bumping the treble on the PT-100 (+4 in my case)
Turning on Windows Sonic Mode
I play multiplayer shooters a lot. I found turning on the Windows Sonic actually benefits the imaging for these cans. The reason this is true in my case is - I sometimes turn it off while streaming content and will play a game or two at some point later. I will find myself getting into close situations which I will typically pick audio clues on and every single time it turns out I'd Windows Sonic off. Secondly, I bumped the treble on the PT-100 to +4. That also means I'm using this setup exclusively for gaming now, since I find it cumbersome to keep resetting things for listening to music.
Here's what you really need to know - if you've a headphone stand for a head, i.e. your head is oval / almond shaped and not round enough - the band on these headphones are going to create a pressure point so bad on your head, you'll feel it even when typing a review for these cans and not having used them for a day. You CAN'T use them for more than 30 minutes at a stretch if these don't fit your head. These are terrible, do not buy them or return them if you find that's the case for you.
I did not return mine, because they are that good compared to everything else I've and I love competitive gaming.
I've Denons AH-D7200s on the way and I hope those cans take on the gaming responsibility. The H6SE are like a crazy hot girlfriend, you can only handle so much of them.
Which is better, HD6xx + $400 tube amp, or THIS with $100 amp?
If you can find a vintage stereo amp and use speaker taps for $100, you might find yourself ahead of the HD6xx. Actually listening to the 6xx that I gave to my brother right now. I saw them in the box at my parents' house so I took them back. While I'm not listening to them on a tube amp right now, I'm listening to them on my Jot, the midrange is sweet, but everything else, the HE 6 wins, dynamics, bass, treble, etc. The HE6 with tube or tube preamp is unreal also. I had them on a Carver setup for a while and the tube preamp I was using added an unreal depth. The bass felt like it was in the whole room. The HD6xx is probably the best value for pleasant listening in my opinion. Anything more is nit picking...A true upgrade to the 650/6xx would probably be ZMF Auteur, but these are 6-7x more and don't sound 6-7x better (I have the Auteur as well).

You think they're good with OTL tube amp? Or hybrid
