You would have to be deaf to plug in a 3.1 soundbar on a $4000 TV
Not everyone has room for or wants a full surround system taking up space in their room. A 3.1 system with no satellites is pretty non intrusive in a room.

A sound bar is still probably better than built in speakers. However this is a premium TV for someone who wants the best. It's not like someone is buying this TV just to watch cable news. Putting a sound bar on this nice of a TV is the equivalent of putting used trailer tires on a brand new 2021 Corvette. It is just going to ruin the experience. There are so many great speaker and receiver deals on slickdeals that a user would be remiss not to go in that direction. Some of them more snarky comments were implying this but maybe did not say it directly.

$2500 seems to be the MAP for the 65" model, so price probably not gonna drop below that. I think I'll wait for gift card bundle instead of the sound bar though

A sound-system on a high-end TV was clearly implied in my post.
Well, yes but I would bet most people who buys this TV don't even plug in a sound bar so in that respect , it would be an upgrade

I dunno, a good sound bar will be enough for lots of people. The TV performs the same regardless so it's not quite like a new corvette with trailer tires. More like a new corvette with base audio and a loud muffler. Doesn't affect the ride.

Honestly it depends on the situation, I have a Sonos arc and surround with sub and I can barely tell the difference from tv speakers 90% of the time Bc I have to keep it so low due to sleeping baby or annoyed wife

This.

In my basement, where I have ample room and less concern about clutter, wires, etc. I have a dedicated 5.1.2 setup.

In my living room, which I like to keep extremely clean and orderly, I'd never want a setup like that. I have a Sonos Arc with a sub tucked away behind the couch and two Symfonisk lamps on a shelf as rears. No wired speakers, no big tower speakers or av receiver. It compliments the space nicely. And honestly, the difference between the two setups Is minimal. Atmos is better, when well utilized, on my 5.1.2 setup thanks to in Ceiling speakers. My av receiver gives me more control to get the sound I want. But from a convienance standpoint, Arc wins handily, and still sounds exceptionally good.

I agree with the opinion that someone buying a 77" OLED generally wants to have the best stuff they can get. What I challenge is that raw sound quality is the only metric that factors into being the best. Size and simplicity are a huge factor. I think the vast majority of people who can afford a $4k TV have no interest in dealing with a dedicated audio system when a soundbar over eArc will work as seamlessly as the TVs built in speakers.

I got $3399 for the GX from them. No tax/shipping charges. Still holding out though in the hopes it'll come down a bit more in the next couple months.

Thank you. Yeah I'm holding out for 3000 tbh. If I have to pay $3400, might as well wait til June for a discount on the new 77a80j from Sony which has msrp of $4500.

In terms of picture quality, the LG GX OLED and the LG CX OLED are two very similar TVs and any differences come down to panel variance. Our unit of the CX has much better color accuracy, better gradient handling, and it gets slightly brighter. However, our unit of the GX has wider viewing angles. The major difference between them is that the GX comes with a wall mount that makes it sit flush against a wall, while the CX comes with a stand.

I would just keep the CX and you get the extended warranty.

Earlier you could purchase SquareTrade tv warranty from Costco for a TV purchased with outside retailers.

Looks like this is not the case anymore. Can anyone confirm?.
