Some games require quick movement of the mouse. Based on this and the surface below the mousepad, the pad can shift, requiring you to move it back into place, potentially while playing a game where distraction can get you "killed". Having a larger pad that's also under the keyboard can stop shifting.
You also don't have to worry about going over the edge of the pad with these quick movements when its bigger.
It can help prevent scratches on the desk surface from the keyboard.
It can be a matter of style and a way to customize your gaming rig.
Wish they would update the design of this ugly ass thing.
These are nice mouse pads and worth it on sale. Best part is it is one of the few Corsair products that doesn't require you to install their awful iCue software.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would want their keyboard to be on the mouse pad? I don't get it.

It's like having a place mat for ur plate(s). Aesthetically pleasing, organized, and secure. I use it because I don't like the rattling noise the keyboard makes when I readjust it. Personal preference for sure.
I do have to agree that visually this is a bit of an "ugly ass thing", but the advantage of its pattern-less grayish coloring is that it hides dirt and spills much better the black colored one I have.

Its like asking why anyone would want a curved ultrawide. Once you use one you understand. The keyboard weight keeps it in place (and it acts like a wrist pad), while you have tons of room to move the mouse for competitive games.
