Just curious, do people use this for front doors? What's the main area people use these for? I've been looking at smart locks for a bit but I'm still a noob
I want one for my garage entrance door. That's the one we always use. Rarely use front door.

I have the wifi version with the fingerprint unlock. Before that I had an August lock. I definitely like this one better as it responds faster and has more ways to unlock the door. The only thing that I don't like that the August lock has is open/close door sensor so that the door does not automatically lock when opened. Maybe they'll do it for a future release. Other than that, love the lock and I've had a smart lock on my front door for a few years.
I got this set a month ago with the preorder discount. It's great! Put lithium batteries in though, more detail below.
Don't lose the keys, they are special and can't be copied, you get a set of 5.
The lock is SLOW with normal alkaline batteries, with my Schlage lock, it locked and unlocked quickly. This one takes 3-4 seconds to fully engage/disengage. It was frustrating because you would use your thumbprint then go to open and it wasn't finished then it yells at you (yes it talks lol)
I put some Energizer Ultimate Lithium's in and it's now very quick to lock and unlock!
Just keep in mind due to the fall off curve of lithium batteries and that the battery indicator will probably never show it dying and one day the locks just dead without notice, so make sure you change them every 8-12 months on your own.
For those with the fingerprint version , anyone live in the cold Midwest? My current model doesn't work well in the cold.
Is it the lock or your fingerprint? I know my phone has had trouble reading my fingerprint when my fingers are cold. I've read you should program in a fingerprint when your fingers are cold, too, to help with the recognition of your fingerprint.
I'm getting this one instead of the fingerprint version for my parents. The fingerprint sensor does not work well for seniors because their prints are not as clear. I'd recommend the same for others debating which one to get.
Off topic but related to this. I want to get smart lock like this as I have Schlage with keypad but my door sometimes stick sometimes doesn't. Basically if door isn't lock it opens a little and I have noticed the locking mechanism sometimes doesn't come out all the way. Is there a fix for this or will new lock like this solve my problem.
