I've sat in the chair at the store. It's not bad, but it's definitely not anything special.
Unfortunately, I can't find anything comparable to my flaking bonded leather chair, so I keep using it.
I swear nobody makes any deep seated chairs anymore for under $200-300.
I'm in the same boat. I've shredded and cleaned up my junky bonded chair cause I can't find something I like without paying for luxury models. Not a fan of mesh either.

I bought that Hyken deal the other day and it was WAAAAYYYYY too deep before adjusting the front tension knob. Like a rental car, it was a 10 minute adventure before I felt like I wasn't going to lose blood flow in my legs or that I was sitting in a tire swing. Perfect now though!
This chair I'm using it right now. So much better than the hyken crap that I tried before. Much more comfortable and deep. I've tried like 20 chairs for gaming and work. This is the best I've found in the sub 300 including gaming chairs I've tried.

The difference is that I don't typically sit in my chair to do work. I'm typically sitting with my feet up, or leaned back with my feet on my ottoman. So I don't need a chair that's attempting to give me proper posture for hours at a time. And I'm not looking for mesh chair.
Try getting a chair cover. Its not a complete fix but it will give you more time to find the chair you are looking for.
Nah, that's a waste. I could probably make it last longer if I had basic sewing skills, or I could just get a leather patch.
I actually managed to snag a second of the chair I have before it got discontinued. But this chair is still usable for now. I've seen chairs my friends have where the cushion is completely worn out and it hurts to sit. Not the case with mine, yet.
I bought this chair, let me tell you it's looks are deceiving. It looks half too cheap to be comfy but let me tell you it's not your bolstered people chair but it's also no slouch. It's reasonable comfy/supportive. I like the lumbar curve in the back rest. I have no idea how long it will last but for the price it feels like at least 140 to 170 dollars chair for 80 bucks. It's slick.

Amazon sells covers, elastic that fit most bonded leather chairs, its kept my office chair from flaking going on 10 years

I really like it, too. Honestly, I've had it for probably about a year, and it's still holding up pretty well. I'm also fat (about 220 at the moment) if that helps you think through your decision.
