Never knew KK had hot light "hours". I was told one time by a KK employee that you could get a free glazed donut when the light was lit but was turned down another time
after they were overran by freeloaders.
With even a dozen glazed now priced at $10, this is a great price.
My brother was a store manager for a KK a few years ago. He said the cost to KK (ingredients only) for a dozen was approximately 10 cents.
Even after accounting for utilities, rent, salary, the profit margins are quite large.
how can i find out when my local KK HOT LIGHT hours are?
Simply by reading and comprehending.
The link provided reads "Check below for participating shops and Hot Light hours!" and the "Find a Shop" button is right below it. Once you find your store, the "hot hours" are clearly marked.

Does he happen to know why some KK are legit hot and now...they fry and glaze the doughnuts at the site and other KK try to get cute and put their hot light on and when you check them out they have already made doughnuts sitting on racks probably fried off site and they put them through a conveyor blow dryer to heat them and then glaze them. They are still good but it's not close to being the same.

He said that most stores are franchised and it is a way of lowering the costs due to less being thrown out. The stores that make them on-site can only keep them for a certain amount of time after they are made before they are tossed and a fresh batch made.
vs
other stores making up a certain number and letting them sit unglazed until ordered
