$249.99

The Union & Scale™ Workplace2.0™ Ayalon Mesh Back Fabric Task Chair is a rebranded Eurotech Vera and is easily one of Staples' best office chairs. It is made of quality materials and features adjustments typically found only on high-end chairs from manufacturers like Steelcase and Haworth, including 4D-adjustable padded armrests, seat pan depth adjustment, and easily accessible tilt tension control.

Staples currently has a rare sale on colored Ayalon models - red [staples.com], teal [staples.com], and gray [staples.com]. Combine with promo code 77898 to get an extra $20 off for a final price of $249.99 (normally $299.99, which is still a great value).

Using the same promo code, the typical Black-colored Ayalon [staples.com] can be purchased for $229.99 with free next-day delivery.

Going by the first comments, this must be a chair for people who like to read a lot

I have a $400 chair in which the inward/outward swiveling arms don't have any locking mechanism and it infuriates me. There's so little tension and it takes so little effort to end up with them accidentally swiveling outward, forcing me to continually reset their positions many times throughout the day. (Not to mention, it ended up being extremely uncomfortable to sit in for extended durations.)

Does anybody know if the swiveling arms on this Ayalon chair have mechanisms for locking the selected swivel position? Or at least very heavy tension, enough that you never encountered them accidentally moving out of place? I have this same concern about the panning of the arms too.

Can somebody confirm this for me? Because this chair looks very promising, and I'm considering getting it. This would be the deal-breaker aspect for me.

I have found that no matter what type of office chair I buy, the seat cushion loses its cushion usually after around 6 - 8 months. My solution was to buy a custom made cushion which I put on the seat chair and it is the best thing I ever did. I do have to use a footrest since the cushion adds another 8 inches off the ground (I got a very thick cushion.)

I assume you don't own this chair specifically.

Discount code appears to have expired. I couldn't use it on the black chair.

Anyone thoughts between this and a TP-9000 I got a few weeks ago? Is it like "omg return that and get this asap" or "meh"

You DO NOT have to be tall. The minimum seat height is 17.6 inches. That's good for 5'6" people with typical proportions per BIFMA [ergonomictrends.com]. Anyone shorter or with shorter legs can supplement with a cheap footrest. Besides, the average 29"-30" tall desk is too high for anyone under ~5'10" to sit in healthy posture without a footrest anyway.

Calling the armrests' range of motion "limited" is seriously underselling it. They can be shifted into perfect positions for the vast majority of people. And the armrest caps are more plush than practically any new chair in the $300 price range.

I'm not claiming the Ayalon is on par with Herman Miller. I am claiming that this is a fantastic value for a new chair that approaches high-end quality and functionality. The only way to get higher quality at this price is to buy used high-end chairs, many of which still cost more than a brand new Ayalon.
Woa Woa Woa, you sound like your selling this a little too hard for you to have "happened" on a deal. Chill out, sit back, and let the community speak for itself. That's how this works. This isn't an open air market screaming "get your tacos, buy one get one, here and only here for an hour"

Wow there are a lot of people in here serious about their chairs! Ive been using the same $50 chair from amazon for 7+ years (replaced once) and is doing just fine for me, as someone who works from home with more 10+hr days than not.

My "desk" is a high top table, can any of you chair experts reccomend a drafting chair thats better built than my amazon cheap-o but not insanely priced? This one is starting to fail again, among other things the metal holding the seatback fatigues because i put a lot of pressure on it, bad habit of curling up sideways on it sometimes.
Curling up, sucking thumb {"If I could just get this to process I could move forward} pulls hair {COME ON!!!!}

This chair is higher-quality and more adjustable than the TP-9000. Which chair you find more comfortable is subjective, of course. Luckily you can try both at a typical Staples store and compare them directly.

If I notice someone pushing misinformation that I can debunk, I do something about it. I happen to respect this product and I don't want people to avoid it for the wrong reasons. If I didn't care, I wouldn't post the deal here.

Any other coupon codes work to get this down to 229? Might give this chair a try if so. Thanks

Very light detents, sort of like a Haworth armrest or a Gesture armrest.

They'll move if you bump them for sure.

No locking mechanism except for height.

Thanks for confirming. That's a deal-breaker for me then, so I'll be passing on this chair.

Why in the world are they designing chairs with swivel arms that don't come with locking mechanisms? It baffles me, considering how easily they get bumped out of place. There's no way I'm the only one that's bothered by this...
Does anybody have a suggested alternative mesh-back cushion-seat chair in the $100-$300 price range, that doesn't have this limitation?
