Nutrend via Newegg has Pulsar 9500 Watts / 12000 Peak Watts Heavy Duty Portable Dual Fuel Generator (G12KBN) on sale for $799.99. Shipping is free.
Note: This product is sold and shipped by Nutrend. Also anyone who says this generators THD is 5% is most likely incorrect. All of these open frame generators have a higher THD then the inverter generators by design, there is no way this brand came up with a 5% and isn't advertising it all over. With that said it is a decent deal on a larger dual fuel generator but if you are specifically looking for a low THD then inverter generators are the only option.
Product Features:
457cc Engine
Up to 12 hours of continuous operation at half load when running on gasoline
Dual Fuel Capability (Gas & LPG)
Gas Tank Size: 8 Gallon
12,000 peak watts / 9,500 rated watts (gasoline) & 10,800 peak watts / 8,550 rated watts (LPG)
Dual Fuel Capability allows you to choose between Gasoline & LPG fuel sources.
The G12KBN, with a fuel capacity of 8 gallons, reaches a run time of around 12 hours at 50% load utilizing gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.67 GPH). Alternatively, it can reach a run time of around 5 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.94 GPH) with propane.

Also I've been to China and visited many different types of factories for work and most likely the Durostar and every other brand generator that looks even remotely similar are all made in the same factory and are just relabeled differently. There are only a handful of actual factories in China who manufacture generators and then there are hundreds of fake manufacturers who buy the completed or near completed generators and rebrand them.
Think of it - if the issue with "dirty power" were really a concern, you'd see people trashing all sorts of electronics *all the time* - yet I basically don't hear of it. Not that it doesn't happen, but it's obviously not newsworthy

I would say yes; Pulsar tends to private label, so they sell a lot of generators but under different names.
The duromax have a good value, but the THD is horrible, like 20%+ horrible. I can't find what it is for the pulsar, since the item doesn't appear on their website.

I believe this one is 5%. According to one of their company reps on a comment on amazon. I ordered this one a couple days ago and returned the Costco one

What is the max acceptable THD for someone looking for a generator (excluding inverter generators)?

Just throwing it out there, but WEN makes a cheap 4K open frame that's an inverter that they claim is super low THD. Just putting this out there. $400 for 4K is a crazy good deal.
"We test at 50% load, sea level, +15C baseline and find between 5-8% THD. Over half load it can decay a bit more."
So buyer beware. I would not plug anything sensitive into this and expect great results. And that includes modern appliances, HVAC equipment, etc. You are just asking to burn out a board.
