Looks like this set goes on sale at this price once a year or so from buydig - 2019 and 2020. It was $168 prior to that, e.g. 1, 2, 3. Amazon[amazon.com] has it priced much higher.
The weak point is the zippers. Almost every time I fly, baggage handlers break off zippers, then I have to zip them without the tab you hold onto (I can still use the zipper, just without a tab). That likely will happen to these bags.
So then I had to get another suitcase so I bought a hard sided bag with no zippers and the bastards cracked the shell. Unlike zippers, THAT IS covered by airlines so they replaced my bag with another hard sided bag.

Can anyone confirm if this is a good deal on this brand? I've never had a hard shell and I'm tired of getting my luggage ripped up and wheels missing every time I fly

We bought these over a year ago when they were on sale for about the same price. These are sturdy and decent. The zipper comment being weak is the same with other zippers so don't worry about that. The only con we have with these is that they don't have outer storage. So if that's your thing then it's not for you but otherwise we use them for all our trips.
I just buy my luggage from Marshall/TJ Maxx. I am not sure what the difference from brand to brand is, but whatever I buy (whether it is from samasonite or some other brand) they all seem to do the job.
I've had these and got them from Buydig several years ago. I only fly a few times a year and generally liked them, however I did have issues. Mainly the zipper on the middle one always breaks open when flying. It's not at all overstuffed, and I can fix it by unzipping and rezipping, but in the meantime I keep getting my bag back with the bottom opened. Thankfully the gap hasn't been big enough for clothes to fall out but it is worrisome. The other two were ok, but Air Canada recently broke the shell of the big one. I tried getting them to replace it but I think it required sending it somewhere and the shipping cost didn't make it worth it when I can buy another set for $150.
Overall they are decent if you don't fly a lot, but I don't feel like these would hold up well to regular travel.

Reviews on Amazon look bad
FWIW, buydig has 77 reviews and they seem more positive overall.

Here are the overall dimensions, found in answer to question on Amazon.
Not sure how accurate, especially on depth, but probably correct on length.
22 x 14 x 9
27.5 x 19 x 11.5
32 x 20.5 x 12
