Anything enameled from Lodge is made in China.... but for the set, the price is reasonable.

Lodge's Made in USA bare cast iron these days are getting worse and worse in quality with massive pitting problems, which means they aren't taking care to probably get their sand molds done. maybe it's in the Made in China enamled too,but you can't see it through the enamled which is nicely done.

I totally agree that Lodge cast iron is worse than what it was.

The lodge Dutch enameled Dutch ovens are great. Braised a pot roast last night in mine. 5 hours braising and it took 30seconds to clean the pot and lid. Everything wiped away with just water. It's by far my favorite kitchen piece. LeCrousset is better, but at 8 times the price I couldn't justify.

I've tried lodge cast iron skillets a few times. The last, I went all out, grinding the surface down smooth, then seasoning it with thin layers of oil 6 times. It seemed like it would be perfect but when I cooked on it, eggs still would stick a little. And after a few uses, a few chips came out of the seasoning like it didn't adhere to the smooth cast iron underneath.. I might try again at one point because I like pressure cooking a bunch of chicken breasts for the week. Then I shredd and fry little bits at a time with noodles and garlic with mixed veggies for a lot of my meals. Cast iron in theory should be perfect for this but it takes too long to heat up and I feel I would always use too much oil to cook just to make sure it didn't stick.. the price of these keeps drawing me back in, calling out for me to try again

Yes it is done well there. The problem is the often use engine blocks and the like which contain heavy metals.

These can leech into you food as you cook.

Not every manufacturer I am sure but I don't take the chance as you never really know.
