How many pairs of old linemans u got?
I gots like prolly 5 or six.
How many have blow holes?
At least 2 for me, but haven't blown up a pair in easily 10 years.
How many you lose?
I lost at least 3 maybe 4 pairs.
Most sentimental tool?
I got a 20+ year old klein hammer still going strong, even lost it for a year then the electrician gods sent me back to the same place to do more electric and I found it right where I last worked. Divine intervention to cure my lost tool depression if you ask me.
I do prefer the dipped red handle knipex lineman pliers over Klein's though, lighter and better quality of you ask me.
These are way above homeowner grade if you ask me though.

While I'm not a fan of these types of handles, I'm also not a fan of the Klein journeyman series handles either.

I prefer knipex when it comes to pliers but he's right they're bulky.
Not only bulky, this thing looks better built, but it doesn't last. After a few months everyday use, you ain't gonna cut nothing. And you can't use it as hammer like you do with Klein, it will start wabbling. Only apprentices buys these and soon enough they will regret.

I have 3 years on my Knipex lineman pliers, but i rarely use them as a hammer, since i carry a hammer on my belt. I can see hammering the occasional staple in with linemans...but nail on boxes om a full rough in of a house, yeah not so much.
These are great, they fit in my pouch just the same as my old blown up Kleins. Love the feel of them and I like the crimping part better than the Kleins. Great price!

If you are a lineman, I guess it's different story, cause inside wireman don't carry a hammer on the belt. Klein is not only used to hammer staples and nails on the box, also on the beater (big size flat screw driver) to tight or loose lock nuts and so many other things. Plus, if I'm crimping today, I'll use a crimper, never a crimping function from a pair of cutter.

Well if you use knipex on only soft drawn copper wire like light residential rough in work they might last 3 years before losing their edge. But if you do real commercial, overhead power distribution, industrial, or nuclear plant work they simply wont last like a pair of Kleins under extreme use. A real electrician has to cut hardened bolts and nails, the hardened center wire in overhead cable and yes even pound in an occassional nail. Any tool can cut softdrawn copper wire. Knipex tools simply do not hold an edge over time. Buy Knipex to look purdy in a tool pouch....buy Klein to last. Just my opinion after using every kind of hand tool in my 35 yr. career as a Master electrician.
But how satisfying it will be to use those 3-4 times in your lifetime will be well worth it.
