Amazon does a lot of stuff that I am fine with, but the whole Amazon Basics line of products is a bridge too far. They use their ownership of the marketplace to see what sells well, and then they "design" a knockoff perfectly structured to undercut the successful product. There is no value here.

Everything. It does not work in cooling a room down effectively. It creates a negative air pressure in room as it pumps out air from your room. This causes hot air from outside or from adjacent rooms to be pushed into the room you are trying to cool. Super scientific, multiple sources online if you want to learn more.

Dumb here. What's the issue with single hose?

90 days warranty. By the time summer will arrive, warranty will be long gone.

I would've got the one for 199, but looks like they didn't have many. Sold out as soon as the deal was posted.

Thanks, the 10k BTU is just what I needed for my little WFH office (a little under 200 sq feet) and $160 cheaper than the similar Whynter unit I was about to buy.

yes, single hose portable units are less efficient, but my windows won't accommodate an in-window unit and the price is right for my purposes since I only need it a few weeks/year in my climate.

Note: Based on my research I wouldn't use this for a room larger than 200 sq ft - 10k BTUs (ASHRAE, not DOE) probably won't do a good job covering the 400 sq ft that the description claims.

I've tried these 10-14k btu single hose ACs and they're equivalent to 5-8k window ACs in cooling power. You might end up saving on the upfront costs with these single hoses, but you'll end up paying 2x the electric bill. After one summer, you'll have already paid more in electricity than if you got these for free.

Bought a Hisense 6500BTU for $180 a couple weeks back... I've been looking for something to combat the heat this summer in my grow shed that's in the garage. From someone that's been looking around recently, this seems like a good deal.

10,000 BTU one looks exactly like the Whynter ARC-102CS which gets solid reviews towards the top of the pack on Consumer Reports. "Excellent" marks in predicted reliability, and brownout (scared to ask what that is). Downsides are "fair" marks in comfort and indoor noise on high setting.
