Stainless steel ones all include cellular capability and have a sapphire based screen rather than glass, so are more scratch resistant. Series 6 SS starts at $700, so big savings if you want SS but willing to go last gen. If you don't care about SS or cellular, not a good deal, just get Series 6.

I currently have a S4 in SS and I recommend the extra money here. It is much more durable, and I have yet to scratch it. I seem to always bump it on things, walking upstairs, etc. I'm not sold on the replacement cost for me on what adds an always on display.
This is a great deal, and worth the upgrade if you are rocking S3 or older and looking to replace. Do the stainless. It's worth the cash.
Same version of series 6 is typically about $150 more on Walmart's website.
That 2x brighter always on display is a big diff. Maybe not a $200 difference, but series 7 is 5-6 months away.
If I didn't have the Black SS 4 series, I would be all over it.

Good info. Thanks! Now if I were planning to keep it for several years, would you still go with the 6? I'm still rocking my series 2 lol surprisingly it only has a few scratches on the bottom but it's not too bad. Planning on passing it down to my wife
Get SS version then, it feels much better. I assume you don't need blood oxygen feature. As I mentioned, get bands from Aliexpress, those cost $2-5 with free shipping bands have surprisingly high quality. I bought 7 and totally cost is less than $30.
It is not any better. It has a slightly bigger battery, but the choice comes down to which size works for your wrist better. If both work well then go with 44mm as that gives you a bigger screen.

Thanks.
The 44mm is $80 more, so it makes for a difficulty choice.

Honestly you should try both sizes at a store. If 40mm works or both sizes work then save $80 and go with 40mm. However, if 40 mm looks too small then you really have no choice. You wouldn't want to spend $380 on something that doesn't look good just to save $80.

Also, do you need the cellular function for the fall sensor/SOS feature to work?
Thx!

The inventory for open box is unpredictable. It will show on the item page when available and usually got bought by people very quickly. All by luck I guess.
Edit: You can check other color as well. I saw couple of them had open box available before.

Okay.
I really want to get your opinion...
Is the Series 5 any better than the Series SE as far as value goes? I just bought the Series SE 44 GPS aluminum model for $250 at Best Buy as it was in satisfactory opened box condition. I like the look in white and I had wondered if I made a bad choice.
My dream watch is the stainless steel series 6 in white 44mm for less than $350. Clearly I can't get that price now but I NEED a smart watch. Spec wise I thought it perfect for my wants and needs. Since I need to get one, I settled for the SE. Just not sure if that SE is worth $250 buying or not.
One thing for sure is I plan to sell the SE once my dream watch drops $350.
What do you think? Am I doing all wrong? Or should I settle for less aka the Series 5? I don't want any buyer remorse

Hmm... I also bought a SE and waiting for both shipments to see which one I would keep. Personally I might keep the stainless steel as it has better materials. SE and 5 are pretty much the same in terms of functionality.
I would keep the one that feels/fits better. Steel version is heavier and tougher. And I am cheap so I like big discounts. Lol.
