Costco had the model with Aladdin Connect LED bulbs included on sale almost every other month last year at around this price. I got one in last August. For this one, you need to buy their LED bulb to avoid interference.

I got this from Lowe's and purchased the installation along with it. It was a PAIN to get it installed. The installers weren't professionals and they had no clue what they were doing. Each of them came to the house and spent hours trying to figure out the wiring and then they extort you telling you that they weren't anticipating it will take that long.

Until now, I couldn't get all the features to work on this thing. You get what you pay for

I installed this several years ago to replace a 20 yo LiftMaster. It was a fairly easy swap but be careful when pressing the connectors to insert wires as they are a bit flimsy and one broke. Genie did send a replacement circuit board.

I have read many reviews that professional installers do not like Genie. However, it is not that difficult to install by yourselves. Just follow the Youtube video.

That is what makes this one better. When the LED lights burn out. Much easier to replace the bulb.

That is true if you ever need to replace the LED bulb which should much last longer than the garage door opener anyway. Think about how many hour (or minute) the light would be on each day. This garage door opener does not have motion sensor for the light anyway and would not stay on. It should not be the sole/main illumination in your garage.

Just depends on if you believe the LED hype. I agree Led's will last longer and are great.

But all types of them are made cheap in china. Even the brand name ones. But I have seen plenty that have burned out in a few years. No matter what the type. Feel free to also goggle this.

What happens when the warranty expires and that LED replacement is no longer made or cost as much as a new opener.
My current opener is 20 years old and still going strong.

I see this with home lighting. With integrated non replaceable Led bulbs. And they don't even offer the separately if needs replacing.
And some even offer a lifetime warranty. All these are off name companies that will no longer be in business in 5 years.
Others will require you to pay shipping to mail back the old light. And wait a month to get a new one. They know no one will do that.
These are from off brand companies

At least with a crew in replaceable that is never a problem. And you can even change to a different daylight color or wattage.

There are a grand total of 6 wires usually, plus a power cord. 2 sets of 2 wires go to the photo eyes and are paralleled, and the other set is for a walk switch. Polarity doesn't generally matter for either, and most Genies have spring loaded terminals. The wiring could literally be no simpler.

I upgraded an existing Genie unit last summer to one very similar to this... The only benefit this had vs a clean install was that the ceiling mount was already there (and I was able to reuse it) and the wires for the wall switch were already there too. The most difficult part of the install was putting in the photo eyes but that's due to how my house is built, any unit would have had the same issues. I was able to do it in half a day and although I consider myself very handy, I've never put in an opener before.
