E-mail received today from eBay:

Thank you for being a Bucks member, and a valuable part of our eBay community. We're reaching out to tell you about upcoming changes to the eBay Bucks program.

After careful consideration, we've decided to retire the 1% earnings reward on everyday purchases starting April 1st, 2021. The good news is, you will continue to receive bonus Bucks offers, so you can keep earning.

And, beginning April 1st, the Bucks you earn will have a 12-month redemption window, so there's even more time to score those big savings.

We hope that gives you more time to enjoy everyday savings and deals on the brands you love. Plus, all the exciting finds you've come to expect on eBay: from the rare to the retro to the right now.

Sincerely,
The eBay Bucks Team

Also noted in the revised FAQ: https://pages.ebay.com/rewards/faq.html

How do I earn eBay Bucks?
On or before March 31st, 2021 all eBay Bucks members will continue to earn 1% in addition to any Bucks Bonus Promotions that eBay may run on all qualifying purchases. When you receive a bonus offer, just activate the offer and start shopping on eBay and you'll automatically earn eBay Bucks on qualifying purchases. Earn eBay Bucks during a calendar quarter and you will receive an eBay Bucks Certificate for the total amount earned after that quarter ends.

Why is the base earn being retired?
After careful and thorough consideration, we decided to retire the 1% earning as we look to continuously optimize our offerings. The good news is that we will continue to offer limited time eBay Bucks Bonus promotions for earning eBay Bucks. In addition, all Bucks earned on or after April 1st , 2021 through the Bonus offers will now be valid for 12 months.

Haven't sold on Ebay for a long time, you're saying if i want to list now, I have to give up my SS to them first? Or is it for new seller sign ups?
Last 4 of the SS and yes, I believe it is for everyone now. This is what it says on the their site:

"Verify your identity to get paid: To pay you in compliance with government regulations, we need to collect your date of birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN.

Note: you can skip this step now but will need to provide this information before you can get paid for your sales.

eBay requires this info from sellers in compliance with government regulations. We only use these details to verify your identity and never share it with anyone. After we verify this info, we can send you payments."

Unfortunately under the current CEO with record breaking sales seems like ebay isn't interested in promotions to increase sales. I think their earnings like quadrupled in 2020.
My sales went up over 40% last year

The end of eBay Bucks 1% back. I received this email this morning: "Hello Derek,

Not a deal, but just a heads up that eBay is discontinuing the 1% Bucks on April 1st. They're claiming that they're going to keep the special Bucks offers going, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Ebay has been dead for awhile
This is correct. Anyone remember the good days of Bing cashback? Think I ended up saving $1000 off a few different purchases 10 years ago. No idea how eBay is still around with 13% selling fees, sales tax, and now not even eBay Bucks, which to be honest were fairly worthless by now anyway.

And they are probably going to plumet as soon as pandemic is over. Many sellers are dropping the platform, rapidly.

Ebay gets even worse. 1% ebay bucks on every purchase has been discontinued.

eBay is taking over the management of payments for all sellers. It's been 5 years since they were forced to spin off PayPal.

It's very predictable news; I was curious why this (and other huge changes like changing payment method) took so long for Jamie Iannone. BTW, I afraid, this will be a "good" news; a really bad news are coming (I guess so) Frown

eBay announced that they will be revamping their eBay bucks program. No more earning of bucks with every purchase (messily 1%) Instead they will only have "special events" where bonus bucks will be earned, kinda like they do every few months with 3% and 5% offers they have. And you will now have 12 months to use them, not 1.

It was only 1 percent to begin with and it expired after about 15 days after it was issued.

I get 5 percent back from Amazon on everything plus easy returns if necessary.

Still eBay can be good when you are trying to get a great deal on used items, electronics.
