I've been researching food processors, and this one seems a little underpowered at 250 watts. America's Test Kitchen said this one stalled in a few of their tests. It is a lot cheaper than the other models, and I guess if you're not making dough in it or using it very long to process very dense foods it might be ok.

For reference, the Kitchenaid 3.5 cup model (that is thewirecutter's recommendation) is 240 watts.

Both Wirecutter and America's Test Kitchen recommend the Cusinart 14 Custom food processor, but that's over $200. All the accessories store in the bowl, too, so the benefit that this one has over that is moot (aside from the price, of course).

Does anyone know if Costco ever offers a discount for their membership? We only order 1-2 items a year from them using my brothers membership but I always feel bad for asking. $60 seems like a lot for only a couple to a few purchases a year.

Thanks!

As for food processors, we have been using this Ninja for a few years alll the time; usually daily and it's been a terrific device.

Yes, have used it and ended up retuning for the smoke issue.

would easily have gone front page if you a) added a picture and b) indicated "after $30 rebate in the title".

But it's not a rebate, it's just $30 off, after which the food processor is $69.99.

So, say "after instant rebate". It's all about marketing! You got to make it seems like they are getting a deal!

Is this necessary for cooking for one or two or is the KitchenAid refurb for $25 good enough?

For small batches, I would think that 3.5 cup refurb KitchenAid would be enough.
