Does it not need eggs or sth? I used to think mug cake instant mixes have everything in besides water and the traditional cake / brownie / cookie mixes need eggs, oil, etc.
Usually what you do for homemade mug cake is buy one box of regular cake mix and one box of angel food cake mix and combine them, because the angel food cake mix has powdered egg in it. Then 3-2-1: three tablespoons mix, two tablespoons water, one minute in microwave. I find the Ghirardelli mix is so rich that you can get by with just using it as is. It's definitely a brownie, though, and not a firm cake.
Get a mason jar/tupperware container.
Fill it up at a ratio of 3:3:2 ap flour:sugar/brown sugar:cocoa powder.
Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda for every 3 tbsp of flour.
Close it. Shake it to mix. And then leave it it for whenever you want to make it.
When you want to make it, grease a mug with butter, then melt down 1tbsp of additional butter by putting it in the microwave for like 20 seconds.
Toss in 5 tbsp of your premade mix.
Add the melted butter.
Add 1/4 tsp of vanilla
Add 2 tbsp of chopped chocolate chips, nuts, or whatever you want
5 tbsps of water or milk
Mix it. Clean excess from the rim.
Nuke it for 30 seconds at a time until it's cake.
Takes less than five minutes.
It will taste good, not great. But works in a pinch.
