I took advantage of the low fares a few weeks ago when round trip was close to $150. Now I really regret it. You have to get a negative test result within the 72 hours before departure from a trusted partner. The cheapest way to get tested is through Walgreens. It is free and approved by the state of Hawaii. What makes me uneasy is that test results can take 3-5 days. If you want to be safe, there are faster options but insurance does not pay for those tests. The approved rapid tests are about $300 each (150 for test and 150 for office visit). My flight is on a Monday morning which means I need to get tested on Friday at the earliest. I'm afraid some labs will probably not process on Sundays. It may look like a good deal for the flights but to me this is a pain in the ass.
Same price from San Jose using the current Southwest promo for the SF Bay Area folks.
My girlfriend is going to Hawaii, make sure you are not trying to island hop because Hawaii is extremely serious about testing. You have to have a negative Covid test within 72 hours to board the plane, so if you will get pushed away if your test results don't come back in time. I saw someone get told no because their test results were 74 hours old. Same thing for this deal, make sure you can time your testing to get it back within 72 hours, they don't accept rapid tests.

My wife and I just booked nonstop to Oahu from San Jose for the same price ($198) on Hawaiian yesterday. The flight was even cheaper this morning but seems to be back to $198

Even if the test is negative, if it comes back after your departure, you will still have to quarantine for 14 days.

This happened to me with Walgreens. Had a vacation planned, got tested three days prior. It took two days just for the tests to arrived at the lab and then another two days to process. If you do the math, that equals cancelled vacation. There are no rapid testing centers on Hawaii's approved by me, but this also was months ago.

A deal great for spring break, but it is still too risky to travel with the different COVID-19 variances out there. I
personally would wait for health experts to say when it's safe to get back to a semi-normal life. Stay safe mask up.

I feel you! I have a flight on a Monday coming up as well and I hope I get the test results before heading out!

I know that Hawaiian Airlines has partnered up with a company to do a covid test at LGB and I would think that they would process the test a lot faster than Walgreens or CVS, but there's that risk of not getting results in on time. https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/...long-beach

Im waiting for hawaii to announce testing bypass for those fully vaccinated. Im not willing to deal with the headache of the testing. Any savings is lost on the flight deal when u account for $300 test
