These prints are meant to be displayed w/o an outer frame.

My reasons for preferring black edges:
1. I often participate in juried photo exhibits. Photo galleries most often require black frames. Here, the black edge of a canvas print act like a pseudo frame.
2. Walls are usually light in color - black edges help the print stand out.
3. Black is the color least likely to interfere, visually, with the picture. The lighter the color is, the more it attracts attention. That is the reason that in taking pictures one always has to be careful not to have bright spots that are not the subject (yes, there are exceptions), or, failing that, one edits out the distracting bright spots.
But, again, it is your house, your taste, you have to be comfortable living with it.
