Thanks, edited. I must've read an older article, even Activision's own site doesn't specify there'd be an upgrade cost, but at least the option is there.
In my opinion, it shouldn't be listed a a PS5 game if it is a PS4 game and there is a cost associated with upgrading it. If it is a free upgrade, that is a different discussion.
At least you can upgrade. At least as of now upgrade physical owners can't upgrade
Physical owners on PlayStation can. Xbox owners cannot upgrade their physical copy. I have not read an actual explanation for this one, but the only theory I've seen is that the way Xbox currently handles digital items due to Smart Delivery prevents them from putting a $10 price on the 'upgrade.'
As in, the Xbox system treats the upgrade as the same SKU and so cannot have a price, whereas a PlayStation has them listed as two separate items. I don't know the validity of this theory and it sounds to me like something Microsoft COULD address if they chose to.
It would be ideal if devs would just follow the planned Microsoft Smart Delivery initiative and make the upgrades free though. I'm not going to hold my breath.
