Is this not the regular price? My university's bookstore has them for this (I see it come across financial aid requests all the time). I have one on my Amazon wishlist, and it has been $299 for weeks. This is the basic, 3gb ram model, right?

There's likely going to be a new iPad introduced this month itself. Assuming they don't raise the price, you'll likely be better off buying the newest version for $30 more. If this were $250 it would have been a good deal. But $30 discount so close to a new release is no good enough. Unless you absolutely need one today - for kid's education or something then it makes sense. Otherwise, wait for a few weeks.
I've been watching prices since before Black Friday and this is about as low as they will go now. I did get my husband one a year ago for $275, but haven't found it under $299 since. Thanks!

The 8th gen 10.2 iPad has been out for only 5 months. I think it's more likely that only the Pro will be updated this month.
I feel like entry level iPads are just get flimsier and cheaper. There is nothing that stands out about this tier of iPads, most of the internals are similar to my old iPad Air 2 from six and a half years ago. Cough up the extra $150 and get the new iPad Air 4, you'll be future proof for the next 3-4 years minimum

This isn't good information. Sure it's the old design but the processor is considerably better. A12 vs A8. It also supports Apple Pencil. I've been waiting for these to go back down to this price at Best Buy so I can get an open box around $250-280. I have an iPad Air 2 also and it's finally just showing it's age and it takes a lot longer to load things on it. The new air is definitely worth it but this model has its place too. This will be for my young kids and $300 is already stretching it compared to a fire tablet. I don't think you'll find a better new tablet with a warranty, that will be supported for several more years at this price point.
