Wow, crazy good price for a pro camera with lens choices second to none. Still a good choice for professional work whether for weddings, landscapes or wildlife. Still used by wedding shooters, but no question the mirrorless cameras are gaining ground mostly due to video.

This 5DS R is for prof studio photographer, but it's video is very limited at 1080p/30fps, so the resolution of the sensor doesn't always matter equally to all.

It's much more capable than studio photography. Also good for action, wildlife, landscape or anything else. I just recently got back from Yosemite to shoot the firefall and there were pro shooters there shooting every Canon pro body camera made along with other bodies of every level. At 5fps it's not the ideal fast action body where a Mark series would give one higher fps.

Good action video on the 5DSR

$1499? WITHOUT a lens!? I'll stick with my Canon T7I/Canon 10-18 and Sigma 55-250. Take the extra $$$ and fly from Chicago to Glacier National Park on Southwest (2 bags fly free)
Mentioning owning a Canon T anything excludes you from photography opinions. Glad that lineup is good enough for you though.

Old tech, low dynamic range, with this money you should get a sony a7 ii plus a lens.

Mirrorless cameras are mostly gaining traction due to their very impressive AF technology and even more impressive lens selections these days.
Video was certainly part of the hype engine but overall its not the major draw.

The Canon has twice the resolution, and that's saying a lot. There's a lot to like in this camera. I shoot the 5D Mark IV and I haven't seen anything in the newer cameras that justifies upgrade. Yes, there are new features, but nothing that would make my photographs better.

I don't like to play the "This camera is terrible/This camera is great" game. I tend to think of these as paintbrushes and you choose the brush that's right for the art you want.

But at $1,500, this is a lot of pro camera. Higher res than nearly any camera you can buy.

Good camera; but it was released in 2015. I would not pay 1.5 grand for a 6 year old technology.

I love the paint brush analogy. I don't think this is a great deal and only makes sense for a very specific photographer but you never know it might be the paint brush for you.

This camera was basically made for the kind of photographers that does it for a 6 figure income.

I wouldn't drive a nascar around to get groceries either. A car WITHOUT AC??
