The sound is terrific. However there is a limited per micro SD card of 128gb. In addition, the music needs to be imported into the device. You can not simply insert an SD card and listen.

Buttons rock. You don't have to look at the thing to track fwd, volume down, etc. I know... silly. I'm such a boomer.

If you're taking the trouble to play your own music files supposedly on a hi-fi device... why the hell would you care if there's bluetooth on it? Some of these posts make no sense and clearly aren't the audience for this device.

Is this Sony noticeably or significantly better sounding than an LG V series phone (playing flac files to wired earbuds)?

Does it run on some old Android or actually has special OS? If it is Android I would stay away

There is something to be said for having good audio quality and a device that supports a headphone jack. Thankfully my LG phone has all that covered so I don't need a second device. This a a tough sell in 2021, but personally I'm glad this option is still around. Especially when most phones have dropped headphone jacks, Bluetooth audio just isn't that great.

Exactly. Such a person would be more interested in a portable headphone amp and decent WIRED headphones to go with it.

Is an lg G8 better than this walkman?
Or is a lg V60 is a better option?
Sadly lg might halt making cellphones. The g8 is pretty cheap right now.

As others stated, tough sell. It would definitely be more reasonable at this price point with an included 512gb (even 256) microsd. The slow charging is also a major negative. Battery life seems good and max 2TB microsd slot is a plus BUT that doesn't save this product (imo).

Still, the facts are there is a market. The iPod is still made, iPod Touch 7th Gen, which is an even worse choice. It lacks microsd, and the larger storage sizes are ridiculously priced. iPod seems to be a foolish design in the smartphone age as well, by still including features outside pure audio playback which just makes it more of a shitty smartphone.

Man I went in on that Amazon phone deal for $100 off of $175 or something, slapped a 256GB card in it and downloaded like tons of datpiff mixtapes, don't know if this player would be better than that phone. I have not tried flac is it similar to like a 3.5mm amp eq boost? What makes it sound better time to youtube

I'm still rocking my iPod Classic 160GB. I go out for walks with it in hand, skipping tracks and adjusting volume without having to look at the screen. No notifications to take me out of the mood. Many of you don't get it, but I do. I also have a Kindle for reading for similar reasons. Yes, a smartphone or tablet can do all these things, but some people like devices like these.

Is this real life?

What's next? A standalone GPS unit? Thought it was 2021 not 2005.

For those getting away from smartphones due to data mining, data selling, and excessive tracking and privacy issues? I dunno. 🤔
