The sound is terrific. However there is a limited per micro SD card of 128gb. In addition, the music needs to be imported into the device. You can not simply insert an SD card and listen.
Buttons rock. You don't have to look at the thing to track fwd, volume down, etc. I know... silly. I'm such a boomer.
If you're taking the trouble to play your own music files supposedly on a hi-fi device... why the hell would you care if there's bluetooth on it? Some of these posts make no sense and clearly aren't the audience for this device.

Recently trying to build an offline music library. This was recommended to me but I am surprised how expensive it is. Then I realized I have a smart phone with a micro SD slot which is basically a music player by itself.

Bought this from Amazon Warehouse for $130. This is built well and looks good. Can't really tell a difference with sound (although I don't have much HiFi tracks) and interface is just ok. I guess it's worth it for this price new.

I agree that 16 is quite small for a modern device, but now you're just being dramatic.
I mean, kind of. A 1tb SSD is ~$100, or $89 is you go off brand. This is double the price of a cheap SSD.
Hell, you can buy an unlocked phone that will do all this and more for less money. Maybe the battery life is better, but if you get a phone with a power saving setting and airplane mode probably not a huge difference. Amazon has a bunch under $150. These are unfortunately relics from yesteryear.

Phones have been able to play FLAC since the Galaxy S1 lol. Maybe since day 1. Not sure about iOS.
iOS plays ALAC, which is lossless. But with 16gb, you cant fit much.

I'm not understanding how this is worth $168 with 16gb. It does the same thing my phone does but is an extra device i have to carry. You might as well get a 10+ year old iPod Classic with 120gb.

Everyone asking why this is still a thing in 2021 is getting downvoted but it's a legitimate question I think.

Better battery life than your phone? Get a similar size external battery for 1/5 of the cost of this device.

Free up space on your phone? Could have added $50-100 when you bought the phone to double the storage for a fraction of the price of this device.

It's the sound quality. Unless you have a phone that was built for music , or you don't care about getting the best sound possible.

Why is it so difficult for people to accept that there will always be a segment of the population who will care about pristine sound quality? For the rest, this product is not for them and they should just move on.

Ps: all those saying their iphone or iPod touch can play xyz format and therefore is equivalent, you really need to listen to the same high quality audio on such a device side by side with their phone to know the difference. Again, the difference may not matter to you but their IS a big difference.

Yep, well said. One more thing to add:
Many smartphones do not have expandable storage (microsd slot) these days, so those of us with a large library of music cannot load it into most smartphones today. But using one of these players that can accept large microsd cards, we can load our entire library onto a large microsd and use it on the player and be able to take our library with us. Of course, those with small libraries or who just listen to streaming always, this would not be much of a benefit to them.
