2070 Max P
Intel I7 10th Gen
16gb of ram
512 gb storage
Rgb Backlit Keyboard.
17.3 300hz
I know with all the other 2070 laptops being 100 dollars less this deal makes no sense but let me finish. This gaming laptop packs a punch with the Max P design (Max Performance) It will perform better with no thermal restrictions which will result in higher frames. Also has a bigger screen the 300hz screen will look awesome.

Except that this is a max-p while most of the new ones are MAX-Q? Unless I'm mistaken

This laptop drops down to $1,299 frequently since Christmas. Could always buy and price adjust later.

Good laptop if you can work within the thermal constraints and know how to repaste/undervolt. I bought when it first came out open box for $1300 and have gotten a lot of good use outta it. $1100 open box now is a good deal if you can find it close to that. Lemme know if anyone has more specific questions and I'll try to answer them

Totally not seeing it for the price. MaxP on a 2070 is only 115W. It's ~10% faster than a 115W 2060 and a bit slower than a 3060 MaxP.

On the 10th Costco will have 17" MSI 2070 Raider with better specs for $1200.

Slower ram and screen and arguably less aesthetically appealing (chunkier) though

The MSI has faster response, which is more important than having over 144Hz (when is that useful?). And the performance is faster both GPU and CPU, so I think the ram speed is a moot point. MSI seems to do a good job of pushing the envelope of the hardware with their MaxP laptops. And it's got slots for two m.2 drives as well as a 2.5" drive. I recently bought the 2060 version and it has no trouble cooling with CPU and GPU at max. Another nice feature is that MSI allows you to undervolt and overclock the CPU which is rare since plundervolt. I'm getting 30% better scores in Cinebench after doing this. Dell could have this option too... don't know.

Last but not least, Costco has 90 returns for any reason and a 2 year warranty, or 4 years if you use a Costco card.

Is the touchpad glass-like and detects my fingerpad easily similar to a Macbook? If so, is it multi-gesture? Or is it a shitty PC plastic touchpad that I have use the tippy-tip of my finger or my fingernail otherwise it goes bonkers?

Has the hinge loosened over time?

Would you carry this in a backpack everyday?

I had the 15" 4K version and returned it because of apocalyptic CPU temps. Hopefully the 17" chassis fares a bit better.
