The customer rep only saw the standard edition when I was speaking to them about my order mishap, it wasn't until I told them to check the email was when they saw that it said "Gold Steelbook edition." The rep said they spoke to their manager about what options I had, I told them id be willing to pay the same for the gold edition but they said that was not an option unlike some other person who mentioned they got a rep on chat to price match, unfortunately its very YMMV with this. A lot of amazon orders seemed to get the gold edition, I think only the walmart orders got screwed.
