Harbor Freight trying to move upmarket is just a joke. I'm not buying a Hercules power tool at 60%-75% of the cost of a Dewalt or a Milwaukee. I'm not buying an ICON instead of a Snap-On. I want to buy stuff that is cheap (like 25%-50% the cost of a mainstream brand) with the understanding that it will likely break way sooner than a nicer brand if I use it heavily.
Eliminating coupons, raising prices, and forcing memberships completely eliminates what makes HF "special" to me. They are great at stuff like zip ties, hammers, air compressor fittings, paint strainers, etc. where they are made in the exact same factory as the "big boys" (and look the same too) but cost a fraction of the price. Once you start getting into stuff with moving parts, it's a lot more risky, but there are still good deals to be had with things like their air impacts.
Count me out if this is HF's permanent new direction. I would rather just go to Lowes and Home Depot at that point.
Harbor Freight has some killer jack stands. They smash their competitors in quality and drop dead prices!
"killer", "smash", "drop dead"... nothing slips past you, sleuth
