Currently have 2016 2nd Gen firestick and use bluetooth headphones often with it. Tried Roku before idk which model, many years ago and it was terrible experience.
Depends on what you do.. I am planning to buy this. I own 3 Amazon 4k sticks. They are great, however, I just got a Roku TV, and the feature to hear sound from the Roku app on your phone and use your phone as a remote is pretty cool to me. Also, if there are specility apps you use, check each app store. For example, firestick has several VPN apps, and Roku does not have any. Again for the average user, it may just depend on preference of the interface.

You can also use your phone as a remote on the fire stick with the app
