I'll say it again. You can undervolt the processor a good amount: I boosted my 6 core performance 29%, and it runs cooler. You can basically make it as good as a Ryzen (or better) with no risk to hardware. You have total freedom to manipulate power, temperature, and noise to your liking. For instance it runs just as fast at 35W as it did at 45W stock. If I max out the fans and CPU I can run at ~68W and 91C and 4.3MHz on all cores forever.

Undervolting is locked out of most 10th gen CPUs, but MSI allows it. You need to enable it in the bios, and then use Throttlestop. Ryzen processors can't be undervolted.

4th time I've linked in this thread? https://www.techpowerup.com/forum...75.279412/

I'd never done anything like this before. It wasn't hard.

yeah just order this minute ago from costco. You convinced me. Thank. Will do the hardware tweak. The guide is for 2060 version I am wondering if it safely applies to this 2070 version?
I'd wager the bios is identical, and adjustments to the CPU will be very similar (since it's the same), but each CPU will still have slightly different optimal settings. You will definitely have different settings for the GPU.

I thought it was a pretty fun process. It's nice to be able to teak your new machine and get much better performance. I mod nearly everything I buy though, so maybe that's just me.

I'd suggest joining TPU and asking questions in my thread or starting your own. The author of Throttlestop is unclewebb on TPU.

O hell no, this was all new to me a couple weeks ago!

I got some blue screens and crashing benchmarks when I was seeking the limits, sure. That's normal. Doesn't hurt anything.

Usually when pushing the Vram speed I'd see artifacts in benchmarks first; little flashes of light. When pushing the core clocks the benchmark would usually crash if it was too high. When this happens just dial it back and go again.

Throttlestop's TS Bench seems like a good CPU check. If you get an error it flashes a warning. If that happens reduce your cache undervolt and try again. If I understand unclewebb correctly the cache voltage is the critical one. You can make the core voltage as low as you want (like mine is -.200) and tweak the cache until you can run for a long time with no errors.

This GE raider is mid to high end laptop...
And This is a 2070 with 115w which perform better than 3060 max Q. Also similar or just slightly less than 3060 with same 115w.

I rather take msi 17 raider with 2070 over an hp omen Ryzen 5600 with 3060max q..

I think it might not be useful. I haven't uninstalled it, but I set it so it doesn't start automatically.

I use Throttlestop and Afterburner to control clocks, voltage, and power. Steel Series software will adjust your keyboard, and you can install software called "Silent Option" to control fan speeds.

Keep it. Dragon Center has some nice features selecting different performance profiles, customizing fan curves, and choosing to charge battery when below 50%, 75% or 100%--to protect the battery from charging all the time, going through too many charge cycles while plugged in. If you don't want Dragon center, there may be another way via Bios screen to select battery charging profiles, (and Silent Fan mentioned by rruff for controlling fan speeds).

HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION
If the one in the link below (ASUS 2070 SUPER) is available for $1,300 again (it was at this sale price previously), would you get it over the $1,200 MSI 2070 in this deal?

https://www.walmart.com/ip/ASUS-R...276945277?
That has a really nice gpu, but I'd probably pass since it's getting our of my budget --I prefer to stay around $1100. I'd rather find the best specs around that budget..1200 is stretching it for me, but 2070 might be worth it in this deal. The lowest priced RTX 2070 super deal I've seen prior was a 15.6" MSI GL65 sold from newegg for $1169AR last month, 15.6" Razor series refurb from ebay during Christmas.

2. Based on?

3. Good to know but out of curiosity how much is the equivalent Omen Ryzen 5600 with 3060max q?

I forgot about the battery.

DC options seem to stick after the software is closed and even after a reboot. So I don't think there is a benefit to getting rid if it. You can just fire it up if you want to change something or leave it be.

Mine's fine. You can see it when it's totally black but it isn't bad... all IPS panels have some.
