So if you missed the amazon deal, here is a very similar, and slightly cheaper deal at Rockler. This kit has riser blocks, as opposed to clamp extensions.

From the site:
Features:
Sturdy jaw construction with metal-reinforced plastic housing
End clip is easily removable without tools so you can convert the clamp to a spreader
Adjustable, removable plastic risers lift your work off of the bar to eliminate marring and glue smearing
No-mar clamp faces are glue- and solvent-resistant
Clamp faces are removable to fit optional accessories like the Pivoting Jaw Faces (#51431, sold separately)
Included KP Blocks let you set up a stable frame clamping fixture, ensuring square corners and no-tip performance

There are great resources on YouTube on types of clamps. Pipe clamps are great and perfect for some applications. It really depends on what you are doing. These clamps are the ferrari of clamps though.

You will have a lot more pipe clamps for the money and only limited by pipe length. Plenty of quality cabinet shops are still using pipe clamps daily.

But, if deep pockets and bragging rights, these are nice for a slight discount of $5 each that is just the beginning... Smilie

Which pipe clamps do you recommend? I'm shopping for some now. I was thinking 1/2" Bessey pipe clamps. I can get a 10' pipe cut to 3'-3'-2'-2' or 4'-4'-2' for $14 plus cost of clamps.

Pipe clamps are old technology and most of ours are Pony clamps in both 1/2" and 3/4" for larger projects. But, I would not hesitate to try a couple from Harbor Freight [harborfreight.com] with their 30% coupon deal.

Pipe comes wholesale in 21' sticks, but you can find decent used pipe everywhere, including recycle/salvage yards, local junk man, etc. Don't forget that when you cut the pipe, one end has to be threaded. We have pipe threaders, so I have no idea what the hardware stores charge to thread one end of each.

The nice thing about pieces of decent used pipe is that both ends should already be threaded and you just cut to size in the middle with a sawzall, grinder with a cut off blade or whatever. The same could be said about buying new black pipe in various lengths that are threaded on each end. When you cut in the middle, you have two sticks already threaded on one end and ready to go.

You will have to figure the best cost for you and what you want.

A lot of it depends on what you're doing with them. I like doing butcher block style glue-ups and boxes, and I find the deeper throat capacity quite desirable. If you're gluing up cabinet frames, you may find pipe clamps more than sufficient.

I bought these on clearance from Lowes back in 2013 or so, paying between $20-$30 per clamp, depending on length (( bought 4 24" and 4 48"), but haven't seen a price anywhere near that anywhere, so this is probably as good as it gets. They're really strong clamps with great capacity and solid design. I did break the tightning mechanism on one with too much pressure, although in hindsight I was being a little ridiculous at the time. I believe I was using a wrench to tighten it beyond what I could do with my hands.

These are absolutely amazing. I own 12 I. Different sizes from 12" to their 65".
Best purchase I've done for woodworking.
No bending or bowing, no need to use cauls to hold down stock when gluing panels or boards

Get 3/4 pipe clamps. Stay away from 1/2. And how do you expe t us to know what length of stuff that you clamp?
Maybe you should start making things first, then you'll know the lengths of the clamps that you need.

So Rockler has a sale that matches the everyday price at home depot, and it is a deal? You can just walk into HD and buy singles.

The complete kit from Home Depot is priced higher and unavailable. The 40" clamps [homedepot.com] are $65 each, the 24" clamps [homedepot.com] are $39 each and the blocks [homedepot.com] are $18, for a grand total of $226.

Seems that this $190 Rockler kit actually is a deal for all that's included.

It's nice to have a a few clamps that aren't as heavy as pipe clamps.

Pretty close to full retail price if you just buy them individually from Home Depot or whatever. Plus then you can buy exact sizes you want. Also these go on sale from time to time for even less. I bought 10 31"ones from Rockler a few years ago for $30ish each.

edit:. Now I see others are already pointing this out.

And the 50"ones are each $15 less than the 40" everyday at home depot. For about the same price you can get bigger ones, everyday. This is no deal.

What you're referring to is the Revo Jr, which has 900 #s of clamping force. These are the standard Revo, which have 1700 #s of clamping force. They are different clamps that are sold at different price points.
