This, of course, isn't going to have the inky blacks of OLED, but this 70" LG has a VA panel, so it will have better blacks and narrower viewing angles than an IPS panel.

cheap but no contrast. Good for a bright room. Not at night.

My neighbor has one of these cheap LG. Great viewing angles. No blacks.

LG use to make some good VA panel cheap TV. But all these new ones are IPS with horrible contrast ratios. Good for Bars but not for home.

You put my Sammy next to it you regret why you got it. Turn off the lights and the grays become very evident. That is why everyone wants OLED. deep deep inky blacks.

So yes, but I probably forget to say about their newer VA panels which will have better contrast but if you look on reviews and some pictures the clouding and backlight issues are pretty bad plus motion as well. You see that in the reviews. watching tv news and regular sitcoms should be fine.

I have not checked the upscaling

LIke I said, if you put up a samsung budget 7 series, it would look much better. The upscaling engine on Samsung is crazy good.
I don't disagree with your comments here, I was just pointing out for others that this is not an IPS panel as you mentioned in your prior post.

You could have bought at Costco a nice Sammy for about the same price with far better contrast and 4 year warranty. What 400 are you savings....lots of TV have dropped in price to the 500 to 600 range for similar size.
Where? Costco? I have to get my sister to check, or I'll look on their site I guess. As an LG at this size, it's decent deal but LG doesn't make good lower budget TVs..... Well most of these TVs suck. I'll stick with my decade old set, until BF comes back and I can afford higher series/class model or even OLED (probably will just get QLED.

OLED 65" costs about $2000, don't even really make 70" idk why.

That RTINGS review doesn't apply here; it's for an IPS panel. The TV in this thread has a VA panel, which RTINGS didn't review.
