But I definitely hear you about the On Cloud shoes. I bought a pair a few years ago, and they were about the worst running shoe I ever tried. Even worse than a cheap base line Saucony or Adidas. They are now really expensive painting shoes.
My standard go to has been the Nike Pegasus, as it seems to be pretty consistent between models, and magnitudes better than the On Cloud. Can get them at reasonable prices too, and I typically change them out around 700-800 miles.
