Though honestly I'd never give a parent anything other than a Chromebook, as I fear the tech support nightmare that comes along with remotely supporting a Windows laptop

Edit: There is also one review that indicates it may have a 4600 in it, as they said it's a beast. Perhaps they didn't investigate the specs, but perhaps goes in slight favor of it actually having a 4600?

Lenovo is not owning up to the issue and is instead asking each customer individually to ship the laptop for repairs (and -of course- you're SOL if it's out of warranty).
At least Costco has a good return policy, but I for one will no longer recommend Lenovo laptops based on that.
