Expiration date of a mineral doesn't mean much. The FDA does not require expiration dates on vitamins. Even most tablet medicines have 90% or more potency a decade after they are manufactured.

It don't mean much for us, but it's a different matter for a business to knowingly sell expired medicine.

Still not a good idea to take expired medicine.

Loss of potency is only partly the problem. Expiry could be set because over time the drug will degrade and form potential toxic impurities.

As for vitamins, I'd probably be less concerned, but still wouldn't recommend it.
Not medical advice and I don't suggest taking old medication either, but loss of potency is pretty much the only concern. There are some medicines where they become toxic (e.g: doxycycline) after expiration, zinc isn't one of them.

Well. It's not zinc oxide at least. 😂 But gluconate isn't what I would want to take regularly. Picolinate and orotate seem pretty solid but you won't find them for $3 on the other hand.

the recommended amount of zinc per day for men is 11mg. [mayoclinic.org]

I take a daily multivitamin that contains 11mg of Zinc, so would taking this daily as well be total overkill?
