I'm a multi-tool addict. These just don't have the quality of leather man or even Gerber. Price is pretty close to worth.

thanks for the heads up. as someone who has a mild interest in multi-tools, but wasnt sure, that hex driver baton looked like something i could really use, but if its low quality, thats a hard pass. i currently have a leatherman skeletool and a gerber crucial i switch between. i prefer the functionality of the crucial over the skeletool, but the skeletool is definitely better built. that said, the gerber has never come close to failing me... it just flexes a bit more, and you can tell its not as high of quality.

I have a SOG multi and it's good quality, I think it's a solid purchase per dollar if it's what you need. I would imagine LM or Gerber would be better but cost more. I use mine intermittently and it's been great.

Yes if you have nothing this is a good start. I have every tool mentioned in the post, including the Q4. Biggest complaint with that tool is that when squeezing the pliers hard sometimes it wants to telescope back to the closed position. Again, this is not a bad tool and I didn't mean to criticize the worth of the product. I bought a few Q2s for gifts a few months back and I'm sure the recipients will enjoy them.

An excellent entry into the edc world.

The Q4 is the best tool listed here to be sure. Not bad, just not my preference when compared to others. I have the skeletool also, but it is limited in functionality.

Sometimes the Leatherman Rebar gets into the $40 or $50ish territory and is very high quality.

I bought the Q2 pen light on a previous deal. It sucks. The knife opening mechanism makes no sense. And the light is twist to turn on and not a button.

I took a chance on the q4 on one of the last deals, and so far I've been really pleased with it. The plyers is so so, but the ratcheting driver has been great and really that's what I bought it for - I need that much more often than I need a plyers personally. I've used the file a bit and it's pretty annoying that it's a two sides file sold as a 3 sided file.

All in all, some people may find it worthwhile.

so ive considered going to a more robust, more tool multi-tool, but honestly its not about the $, its about not carrying around more bulk than i really need.

my list of needs are:. knife, phillips, flat, plyers, bottle opener. all the other stuff is more set up for survival use, vs stuff id need in normal day situations. ive got a pretty diverse set of tools in all my vehicles and at home, and im rarely without those. i could appreciate having more screwdriver options, a second(serrated) blade, or a more substantial set of pliers, but really, i dont see the need for can openers, awls, files, or saws.

im always on the hunt for a better option than what i have now though so thanks for the suggestion. ill probably spend a non zero part of the day looking at the leatherman lineup, lol.

Please tell me if I'm just missing it, but does the Sync-I Traveler Knife not contain a knife?

Correct, no knife, worthless unless you need a tiny weak set of pliers. All of these at terrible except the Q4, which is a neat form factor but you can still do better even at this clearance price.

They make them without knives so people can carry them in places that consider pocket knives to be "deadly weapons." (Government buildings, airports, schools, many office buildings, college campuses/dorms, etc.)

Yes it's BS, but that's the world some of us live in.

Picked up the Baton Q4, and love it. One tool to bring around the house is awesome. Plus the extra bit tips really makes it worth it in my opinion

I carry my Skeletool all over.

I agree that the crucial is a lower quality tool. I have owned some Gerber tools (dime, wave) that are far lower quality than any SOG. In general the batons have had some issues as the joint is not as strong as a typical multi tool plier joint. I've seen lots of photos of broken ones. To me, it feels at least as high quality as the Gerber crucial.

Higher end SOG tools including the power series are on par with leatherman quality.

These woot tools are lower end, a bit gimmicky, but not a terrible value. Fine for light duty and assembling Ikea furniture Smilie
