The new model is cooler and better workflow but this is the one I have and I like it. I paid full price and quite happy about it.

The Kreg is adjustable to have the properly angled holes come out perfectly centered in stock thicknesses from 1/2" to 1-1/2". The HF one only does one thickness correctly.

The Kreg drill block is removable to take to pieces that can't be clamped in the jig.

But yah, it's plastic...but not just any plastic. It's fiberglass reinforced nylon that simply doesn't break. It's not an issue at all.
