The Kreg drill block is removable to take to pieces that can't be clamped in the jig.
But yah, it's plastic...but not just any plastic. It's fiberglass reinforced nylon that simply doesn't break. It's not an issue at all.
$65 but always use a 20% off coupon at HF, brings it down to about $52.
