When you purchase a tool that comes with a free battery, on the receipt there will be a stated "value" of the battery for return purposes. So, for example, you purchase the $299 finish nailer and the return value listed for the battery is $100, you can then go back to the store and return the battery and they will refund the $100, making the value of the nailer you bought now $199.
