What's up with all gaming laptop deals recently?
They go frontpage quickly and sold out in a day. even with MSRP.

The nvidia 3060 video card laptops are just being released and since its new and people have been waiting for a long time, they buy it at MSRP. At the same time, manufacturers are clearing out the now older 2060 and 2070 video cards so they are at a price that's great!

does anyone know what's the Total Draw Power assigned to the 2060 GPU in these laptops? is it 115 watts or less?

How does it compare to the laptop in this thread?

Not sure how it compares with that MSI but the Legion 5s with intel processors are using 85W TDP 2060s with 90W boost. The AMD variants have the 115W 2060s.

However, you can supposedly flash a VBIOS (from another model/manufacturer -- I seem to recall Asus but I'm not 100% sure) that'll let you use 115W for the GPU. You may have to undervolt the CPU to keep temps manageable though.

Hmm interesting that Lenovo opted to use a lower power on the 2060 for the intel but not the AMD possibly because the AMD runs cooler. The #1 problem issue with laptops is overheating so I assume they knew what they were doing with respect to their designs.

Lenovo will price match to its computers sold with Newegg. So, if one doesn't like Newegg, he or she can just order it from Lenovo. Therefore, it is not an issue!

Ebay has the Ryzen 7 4800H version of the Legion 5 for $0.99 more but with vastly superior 144Hz screen compared to the 60Hz in this thread. Size is downgraded to 15.6", but for me personally that's a plus on a laptop. The i7 also loses severely to the Ryzen in multi-threaded applications, and that's coming from someone who has never used an AMD CPU past Athlon days.

Also apparently this is my first post to SD. Neat. This is relevant to me because I'm in the market for a laptop, coming from a Surface Pro 4 with i5-6300u and 4GB RAM, and a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 with an i7-3630QM and 8GB RAM.

"60 Hz"??? I hope this is some kind of typo mistake, but a 60 Hz screen for gaming laptop? Heck no!

How are the keyboards on the legion compared to the business laptops like the X1? I love my X1 but some of the gaming laptops I've used cannot compared. Either the keys are too spread apart or the keys themselves don't feel right.

You should check it out but Lenovo Gaming usually has among the best gaming keyboards.
However, don't get the Legion in this thread as it only has a 60Hz screen (most are 144Hz).
If you can wait for 3 months, await the 3060 RTX version with Ryzen processor.
