I never saw any Google Pay confirmation or anything on the credit card. Ended up returning the jacket.

That's odd, I've never had that issue, and the companies that make storm flap less jackets like this usually use pretty watertight zippers since the jackets don't have storm flaps.

I have another storm flap less jacket from Outdoor Research and haven't had an issue with that one either.
Not to interject or anything, I'm not a fan of SL lines in general either. I sort of understand you wanted it to be packable, but I do think the SL are less durable. If you look at the specs of some of the say AR jackets vs. SL/LT, you can see the AR version uses better gore-tex material. On top of that, the SL/LT version are more plasticy. If you put on say a SL/LT jacket vs AR, you'll see what I mean. The light version makes much more noise. So in order to make it light and packable, something had to give.

Nope, not questioning, that it's a more plasticky and less durable, and you're right there is a trade-off. I'm not sure I would say the AR jacket has better Gore-Tex though as the type that is being used serves different purposes. it's like comparing a Land Rover to a Lotus, both nice, but serve different purposes.

Went into a REI location to check it out and you are right. The different between the looks/feel/quality in the SL and the AR is day and night. The AR actually looks sturdy and durable while the SL looks like a glorified trash bag. Okay a little exaggeration there but yeah that's the idea lol.
