One is main cellphone number and no one has that except immediate family. Not even my siblings or parents have it.
Then I have an everyone else phone number which is google voice.
Then I had set up another google voice number which is a local number for the school to be able to reach me as they can only dial out on a local number, which none of my numbers have the same area code as I have moved a few times since I got each of my numbers. I also have that number forward voicemails and missed calls to a separate Outlook email account and have push notifications set up so I don't miss anything important from the school incase I'm not able to get to the phone right away. It's great too because when the school calls and it's after school hours I know I don't need to answer it and I can read the voicemail transcription. Plus it adds a written record to reflect back onto if I need to save the dates of events or anything else school related. It just makes it easier so I don't need to scramble for a pen and paper when the school calls.
I've used Google voice for over 14 years or so and I don't know what I'd do if they ever got rid of it.
Edit: with the way I have things set up I hardly ever miss an important call unless I don't have my phone near me. and because of the way things are set up I don't really get Spam calls as I've had my cell phone number for many years and I've never given it out to anyone. and Google does a good job blocking spam calls on my Google voice number. and my third line(2nd GV) I don't give that out to any one either so no one ever calls that line.
and I just remembered we have a 4th Google voice number as a house line (used with an Obihai) and that too is only for immediate family. and all calls are blocked except the numbers that are on the contacts list. so that too never rings and if it does it means it's urgent as it's a last resort number if you can't reach us thru our cellphones.
some may think that is excessive but it's really simple and I don't have to worry about random junk phone calls. as some of my other family members phone ring basically non-stop. I don't know how they deal with it.
I think Google voice is one of the greatest ways for voice communication with all of it's features. if they started to charge for it I'd have to rethink how many extra phone lines I have but I'd pay for at least 1 if not 2 lines as long as it's not too ridiculous in price.
H2O SIM card $1 and good for 30 days and 6GB of data (got these from years ago and still haven't gone through them all and they don't expire)
Ting SIM card $1 and good for $30 (recent deal, good for up to 3 months of basic service)
Mint Mobile SIM $1 on Amazon and good for 7 day free trial (still available)
AT&T giving out free trial with 60GB/30 days hotspot which comes with a phone number and SMS (still available)
T-Mobile giving out free trial with 30GB/30 days hotspot which comes with a phone number and SMS (still available)
Whenever they have these deals I just get multiples and I won't have to pay for any carrier service for years. Yes, I have to keep changing my phone #, but I just use my Google Voice as my main # anyway so it doesn't affect me at all.
As a bonus, with each new phone #, you can get $25 Uber Eats new user credit and $20-$25 Amazon GC from the Zogo app. So, you can actually MAKE up to $45 each time you change your #. Well worth it.

sprint tower or tmobile?
It is nice that hotspot is included at least, and the SIM is free shipped.
any t-mobile phone will work
on iphones, you need a unlocked iphone(go into setting and check if it says no sim restrictions https://www.iphonefaq.o
or a t-mobile locked iphone will work too
if you are shopping for a phone for this plan, try to get one that has band 71 lte (this way you get much better coverage )

For $5, get second line that can be used for near-future port-in-required deal on slickdeals (e.g. periodic Cricket iPhone deals requiring port-in).

Why wouldn't Google voice be more professional. You would have your main line and then your professional line via GV app. Then it wouldn't matter what your main line number is because your Google voice number can always be forward to any number you have.
