I was able to call 1-800-331-0500 and spoke to Customer Service, who was able to extend the promotion for another 12-months at $49.99. I only have internet with AT&T, so don't get the discounted $39.99 that requires bundling.

As mentioned in title, it is YMMV. Personally, my promotion ended last weekend and monthly billing jumped to $70 + $10 equipment fee. So, a 60% increase.

I got the order confirmation right away which showed the discounted price valid for 12-months with no contract. My new billing had started two days back, but prorated so I pay less next month.

This includes HBO Max, so another reason to hold onto the promo pricing if possible.

Unlike cable modem, you cannot supply your own for Fiber, at least for AT&T AFAIK. So, either we need a promo for equipment fee off or it is $10/month.

Another data point. I had a $20 off promo from last year, expiring in a month. I called today, politely asked if any new promos are available. Got $30 off x12 months offer, which they activated today. Already got confirmation in the email. I am in Cali Central Valley.

Was able to get $10 off a month with no equipment fee, not as good as the $20 off I was paying but still better than full price. The rep did say to call back after a month of the new promo to see if I qualify for any additional promos. I also added a wifi extender on to the order and will receive a $25 credit for that as well since I didn't qualify for a free one a couple months ago.

Called in and was able to get the additional 12 months of $20 off, bringing me back down to $49.99. Thanks for the heads up!

For those with eligible Chase or BofA cards, check if you have any discounts for AT&T wireless service. New offer is $45 credit for $48.75 minimum charge. As this is $49.99 recurring, I expect the credit to trigger. Will know in a month.

How would the CC issuer know other than the amount? It had worked in the past, and I will have to wait if it will work again.

That's great. It is not always we get it in the first attempt and regular CS wouldn't normally offer what retention could.

Just be careful with the sneaky equipment fees. My friend was charged an "equipment recovery fee" for a modem/router she returned when she moved last year. The store associate did not note the account when closed and billing department sent it to collections.

Ironically, her husband who's a longtime customer with 6 phones + Uverse 1000 TV + 1 gb internet still pays the equipment fee but HBO max cost is "waived". Even though HBO max is free for unlimited phone plans. He is given up on trying to deal with ATT's "hide the fee" shell game.
