I was able to call 1-800-331-0500 and spoke to Customer Service, who was able to extend the promotion for another 12-months at $49.99. I only have internet with AT&T, so don't get the discounted $39.99 that requires bundling.
As mentioned in title, it is YMMV. Personally, my promotion ended last weekend and monthly billing jumped to $70 + $10 equipment fee. So, a 60% increase.
I got the order confirmation right away which showed the discounted price valid for 12-months with no contract. My new billing had started two days back, but prorated so I pay less next month.
This includes HBO Max, so another reason to hold onto the promo pricing if possible.

Ironically, her husband who's a longtime customer with 6 phones + Uverse 1000 TV + 1 gb internet still pays the equipment fee but HBO max cost is "waived". Even though HBO max is free for unlimited phone plans. He is given up on trying to deal with ATT's "hide the fee" shell game.
When we moved from Xfinity to RCN years ago in our apartment, I returned the Xfinity cable box to their technician who collected it from my apartment and got a receipt. They sent a $100 bill for equipment not returned and mentioned it would be sent to collections. I was able to resolve it eventually.
Before I moved to this AT&T Fiber end of 2019, Xfinity was my only choice at home. When I closed my account with them, I had asked them to close my account as of Dec 2019 and paid the prorated charges immediately. I continued to get an email for a pending bill for the next 3 months. As I was no longer a customer, I couldn't access the statements. When I called to check in March 2020, they mentioned that the billing system incorrectly prorated charges and I had a balance of $0.06 pending. Their phone rep "courteously" didn't charge me $5.99 for making a phone payment and charged my credit card for 6c. No kidding & good riddance!
Billing has been good so far with AT&T. Fingers crossed.
Got the "Review your order" email right away. But it's showing my last year's order. Maybe it'll be updated later?

its getting to $70/month. , not sure of what equipment fee is for. it was not included until now.
Took 10 minutes and saved $20 a month ($69 to $49).
Lots of competition in the Chicago market so they $20 is classified as a "loyalty discount" the agent said.
I noticed CA sales tax on my April bill, which I did not have on my previous bills. Is it because I start paying the $10 equipment fee?

Since my service is terrible anyway, I actually went ahead and canceled.
